Getting near an alpha realease for WPEC
Posted by Louis Lapointe in General on August 16th, 2009
I’m getting near an alpha release of the WP Events Calendar plugin.
Soon, in a few days in fact, I will ask for alpha testers. Your mission, if you do accept it, will be to crash and destroy the plugin by whatever means necessary. Violence is needed…
I still have a few bugs to fix, but right now, it’s working on my machine.
I use
- win xp sp2
- apache 2.0.x (don’t remember what “x” is and I am too lazy to go look)
- php 5.2.5
- mysql 5 something (same as apache)
- WordPress 2.8.x (grrr… right now I have a problem with 2.7.1). I think the plugin should be compatible from 2.7.1 up to 2.8.x for now.
- EC 6.5.2.x (the subversion branch)
- the default theme (I also use the default-i18n to check against utf-8 problems
- I do have other themes, but I’m still lazy. Let’s make it work in default first. Later, we’ll make it work with other themes (the bug tracker is your friend)
What else?
Hmm, nothing, that’s it. HYLI (hey, hey, try to guess that one… and if you ever do, here’s another one OQTVEFFF).

The next internet wave
Posted by Louis Lapointe in WP Events Calendar on August 13th, 2009
Last tuesday, I didn’t do a bit of work on WPEC. I needed a small break. So, in the morning, I did this and that, played with this and then than. Finally, since computers are so magnetic, I came back to it and went surfing. Guess what I found! The next internet wave.
Here’s the link: http://wave.google.com/.
Warning! This video is 1.5 hour long but it’s worth it. Man, I can’t wait to put my hands on that beautiful thingy!!!
For those of you WPECers, think about Heirem typing his stuff in French, me seeing it in French and Luke, Brad and Coe seeing instant English translation.
This is incredible!!!

Next realease of WPEC will be 6.5.2.2
Posted by Louis Lapointe in WP Events Calendar on August 3rd, 2009
I have been working on the actual 6.5.2.1 release of WPEC, so we could get rid of some bugs.
I know I said there *could* be 3 releases,
- 6.5.2.2 for bugfixes
- 6.5.2.3 for full compatibility with WP 2.7.1
- and 6.5.2.4 for full compatibility with WP 2.8.x
Well, this is too much work! Having to make it work under 2.5 for the bugs fix, then making it work flawlessly with 2.7.1, then 2.8, then 2.8.x.
So I decided to jump to 2.8.x immediately.
When I’m happy with with, I’ll make sure it works with 2.7.1 . So, the next release will work from 2.7.1 up to 2.8.x.
This is going to be the last update to the 6.5.2.x series. When 7.0 goes out, we will concentrate on that.
In a week or so, I will go to the bug tracker and create that version. Then I’ll transfer bug thats are slated for 6.5.2.x to that new version.
If you want something done, now is the time to go to http://wp-eventscalendar.com/tracker and say it. Just a reminder though, there will be no new feature in the 6.5.2.x series. That will go to the 7.x series.

Hello,
This site has been online since 2001 (if I remember right!!). It has had many face lifts since its inception, this one being the latest. It will probably suffer a few others in the future as well. I do like to play with code.
This is fun! Really! So today, as I’m putting this one out, I sure hope it will survive more than a few months.
Oh! and I will post either in French or in English or both, depending on the subject.
So you have it, welcome to my little corner of the net.
